She has been a long time retired but Li Chunli proved her reflexes are as sharp as ever when beating table tennis opponents young enough to be her daughter at the Oceania Olympic qualifying tournament in Sydney.

A fifth Olympic Games is beyond Chunli, who celebrated her 50th birthday a week ago, but the Chinese-born New Zealander still displayed the touch that enabled her to win gold, silver and two bronze medals at the Manchester Commonwealth Games a decade ago.

The only Kiwi in the women's draw, rather than aim for London the multiple New Zealand title holder is using the competition as preparation for the sport's 2014 world veterans' games in Auckland.
