Waikato dominates Northland Open

Waikato dominated the Open Men’s Singles at the 2011 Northland Open with 3 out of 4 semi-finalists.

Matt Hetherington (WK) took the title over James Harter (WK) (4:3) with an epic 5th game  21-19.  Earlier in the semi-finals James Harter took out top seed Peter Craven (WK) (4:2) 7-11, 11-8, 12-10, 11-5, 6-11, 11-9.  The other semi-final saw Matt Hetherington win over Eberhard Kleiser (WT) with Eberhard taking the Over 40 Mens Singles title.

Matt  Hetherington (WK) repeated his winning  performance in the B Grade Men’s Singles, Open Men’s and B Grade Men’s Doubles teamed with James Harter (WK).

North Harbour’s Bozidar Zutic won the Over 50 Men’s Singles title over Jorg Weinland from Northland.  Bozidar teamed up with fellow North Harbour player David Baker to win the Over 40 Men’s Doubles (pictured above).

Northland players proved too good in the 0ver 50 Men’s doubles with  Jorg Weinland and Grant Jones .  Fleming Alison took a clean sweep over the field to take out the 070 Men’s Singles as well as teaming up with Don Redfearn in the 070 Men’s Doubles.
